Lack of Early Voting Sites in Beebe, Arkansas

STATE OF ARKANSAS
House of Representatives

March 25, 2026

The Hon. Robert Allen, Chairman
White County Election Commission
401 Jennifer Lane
Searcy, AR 72143

Dear Mr. Allen,

I am writing today about the lack of an early voting site in Beebe, Arkansas. Several of my constituents in Beebe have contacted me to express their frustration.

Beebe ranks as the second-largest city in White County. A significant number of individuals, particularly senior citizens, prefer to cast their ballots early. The early voting period gives them the chance to vote without waiting in long lines. Additionally, inclement weather serves as another obstacle. The runoff elections for the positions of White County Judge and Secretary of State are scheduled for March 31, 2026. As you know, early voting commences on Tuesday, March 24, and continues until Monday, March 30. Searcy has two designated early voting locations. My constituents in Beebe will not have the same opportunity to vote early as the residents of Searcy. Why is it that the second-largest city in White County lacks an early voting site?

I have communicated with Beebe Mayor Mike Robertson. He suggested enlisting volunteers to assist at the polling site and said his office is willing to assist. While it may pose challenges for the runoff scheduled for March 31, 2026, the residents of Beebe deserve the same access as those in Searcy. Thank you for your attention. I anticipate your response.

Sincerely,

Jim Wooten
